The principle is based on the action of a high frequency wave producing a thermal lesion and thus sealing the vein. What is Telangiectasia? Telangiectasia is the medical name for blood vessels which are also often called spider veins, thread veins, red veins or broken veins. They can be unsightly. Telangiectasia are small permanently enlarged capillaries or small veins that lie in the upper dermis and are usually dull to bright red. Normally they are linear in appearance but they may also be dot like markings. Some of these blood vessels are called spider naevi because they form small clusters that resemble a spider or a star.
